About IATF 16949
IATF 16949 adds automotive-industry requirements to ISO 9001. Car makers and their tier-1 suppliers require it throughout the supply chain; only certification bodies approved by IATF can issue it.
The current edition is IATF 16949:2016.
A certificate is valid for three years. Surveillance audits take place in the first and second year; before the certificate expires the company goes through a recertification audit.
