Why a supplier register

ISO 9001 clause 8.4 requires a company to set criteria for evaluating, selecting and monitoring external providers and to keep records of it. A valid management system certificate is one of the criteria many quality teams use. The register does not replace supplier evaluation - it shows whether the document the evaluation relies on is still valid.
